The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development was commemorated at the House of Lords through Bāndhavya, a special cultural diplomacy initiative organised by the Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence under the aegis of Baroness Verma.

Community representatives from six nations, creating a platform for dialogue, collaboration and people-to-people engagement. Distinguished participants included senior diplomatic representatives from Mauritius, Barbados, Seychelles, Guatemala, Uruguay and Ethiopia, alongside representatives from educational institutions, charitable organisations and cultural bodies.

High Commissioner Mr. Edmund Hinkson S.C., of Barbados High Commissioner, Dr Rajeshwar Jeetah of Mauritius, Acting High Commissioner Ms Patsy Moustache of SEychelles, Ambassador Mr Lalisa Brihanu of Ethiopia, Ambassador Ms Carla Rodrigues Marcia of Guatemala, Ambassador Mr. Luis Bermúdez of Uruguay, along with Associate Prof. Geoff Paul of University of Sunderland in London and British Army Registrar Major Munish Chauhan underscored the importance of cultural exchange in fostering mutual understanding, strengthening relationships between communities and encouraging cooperation across geographies. The gathering reflected a shared commitment to promoting dialogue and celebrating diversity as a foundation for peaceful and inclusive societies.

A highlight of the evening was a vibrant cultural presentation featuring India’s classical, folk and tribal dances. The performances offered guests a glimpse into the country’s rich artistic heritage while illustrating how culture can serve as a powerful medium for connection and understanding.
