Tribal Pride Day celebrated in London’s Indian High Commission

London (UK)/India: A grand program was organized on Tribal Pride Day late Thursday evening at India House of the Indian High Commission. Celebrated with utmost pride, enthusiasm and cultural dignity. The programme was dedicated to the immortal legacy of great tribal leader, freedom fighter and self-esteem, Birsa Munda. Everyone paid tribute to Lord Birsa Munda on the occasion.

The program was inaugurated by Vikram Doraiswamy, High Commissioner of the UK based Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom. Many distinguished guests from London, community members and cultural organizations actively participated in the program. On the occasion High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswamy highlighted the importance of Tribal Pride Day organized on the 150th birth anniversary of Lord Birsa Munda. He described tribal traditions as valuable heritage in Indian culture. Think about the contribution of tribal leaders in the independence of the country. Also put his thoughts on the leading contribution of Lord Birsa Munda in uplifting and identifying the tribes.

This program was organized with joint cooperation of Indian High Yoga, London and local institutions Sifi, Dhun, Jharkhand UK Network and Team Swarangi.

During the programme, Sifi’s remarkable work in the field of social, economic, environmental and educational development was appreciated.

During the programme discussion by Kartik Pandey, Deputy Director of Indian High Commission and appreciation letters were given to all participants and associates of tribal folk dance.
Members of Ujjwal Banga Sifi Dhun, Jharkhand UK Network and Team Swarangi were also present on the occasion.

On the spot Team Swarangi special attracted cultural dance and song programme based on Santhali folk dance of Jharkhand in tribal costume by Ranchi’s daughter Juhi Priya (Kanke Road resident) associates Rimi Roy Sarkar, Sharboni Das, Sudeshna Samanta and Vaishakhi Dutta Stayed. During this time, the women of Swarangi team devotedly remembered the contribution of Birsa Munda through traditional tribal music, dance and presentation.

Discussion on the topic of Tribal Pride Day was also held during the program. Which was operated by Rahul Ojha. Ajay Prakash, Dali Pandey, Santosh Upadhyay, daughter of Ranchi Manisha Upadhyay (Ratu Road resident) along with many women participated in this discussion. In the discussion, emphasized on joining the tribal society in the mainstream of the country. Discussed the guidance and contribution of all tribal leaders including Birsa Munda in the independence of the country and the proud saga of tribal society in Indian culture.
Men and women from Jharkhand, Bihar, Orissa and West Bengal participated in the program. On the occasion of closing, all people pledged for unity, cultural pride and preservation of India’s tribal heritage.
