In a first-of-its-kind webinar and as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations in the UK, Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence has highlighted the art forms and role of industry in Jharkhand recently. Amazing inputs were presented during the two-hour program. At the outset, a presentation on Seraikala Chhau was given by eminent artist, Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee Padma Shri Pandit Gopal Prasad Dubey. He has interestingly explained the types of Chhau dance and demonstrated body movements and masks used in Seraikala Chhau. His peacock dance, pre-recorded for the occasion, has captivated the audience.

Somashankar Bhattacharya, DGM (Utilities) of Tata Motors, spoke about the journey and milestones of Tata Motors and its contributions made to the economy and industry nationally and internationally. This was followed by a presentation on the Medicinal utility of the plants available in the Jharkhand forest area of Pakur by Divisional Forest Officer Rajnish Kumar IFS. Using a PowerPoint, he has summarised the medicinal uses of different plants including that of Sankhapushpi, Ramphal, Ashoka and Kumud, among others. Santhali tribal dance was presented, particularly recorded in Jharkhand for the program.

Former Divisional Manager (Projects) of Tata Steel and author of “Down Memory Lane- Nuggets of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur”, AJ Asok Kumar has outlined the employer ethos of the organisation.  Cllr. Sharad Kumar Jha, Conservative Diversity Champion and Councillor for Buckinghamshire summarised on different languages spoken in Jharkhand. Vote of Thanks was rendered by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Founder of Sanskruti Centre.

It is noteworthy that such an exclusive program on Jharkhand, highlighting its classical and tribal art forms, and its wider role has been organised in Britain.
