The Congress’ Madhya Pradesh unit is planning a massive event one day before the August 5 Bhoomi Poojan of the Ram temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya. Former MP CM Kamal Nath has announced that he will organise recitation of the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ at his residence in Bhopal on August 4.

In addition, Congress cadre in the state will also hold a similar recitation either at their homes or nearby temples across Madhya Pradesh while adhering to social distancing norms.

Ever since the 2018 Assembly elections, the Congress has been riding a wave of ‘soft Hindutva’, especially in MP. The party’s chief ministerial candidate, Kamal Nath was portrayed as a ‘Hanuman Bhakt’ in the run-up to the polls.

He later initiated schemes such as the ‘Ram Van Gaman Path Yojana’, construction of cow shelters and beautification of temples after coming to power.

Barely days before the collapse of his government had Kamal Nath organised a public recitation of the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ in Bhopal.

The BJP has termed Congress’ stance on such issues as pretension.  “The Congress that negated the existence of Lord Ram and termed the Ram Setu Bridge as imaginary is now chanting the name of Ram. It would be better if the Congress does not remember Ram only in light of the bye elections.” says BJP

  1. It is great to see some Modi effect at last with this defunct party. If anyone watches Netflix there’s a documentary called The Great Hack in which how political parties engaged with data companies to generate discussions which can swing voters intentions. Any Congress leader worth their salt must forthwith announce their genuine commitment to India as a majority Hindu country which is tolerant to all
