London 11 Sep: The UK–Africa Annual Summit 2026 opened with remarks from the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, who presented Uganda’s vision for investment, industrial growth and stronger international partnerships. The Summit brought together members of the House of Lords, MPs, investors, government representatives, diplomats and business leaders from the United Kingdom and across Africa for high-level discussions focused on transforming investment opportunities into sustainable commercial partnerships.

Held under the theme “Trade Corridors and Industrial Platforms: From Access to Production,” the Summit emphasised a shift beyond conventional trade towards investment, industrialisation, local production, value creation and long-term UK–Africa economic collaboration.

A high-level delegation from Uganda, led by Prime Minister Nabbanja and joined by ministers and senior officials, participated alongside diplomats and representatives from other African nations. Uganda emerged as a major investment focus, showcasing opportunities across agriculture, minerals, oil and gas, tourism, manufacturing, infrastructure, financial services, science, technology and innovation. The diplomatic presence also included H.E.Nimisha Madhvani, Uganda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Prime Minister Nabbanja highlighted Uganda’s political stability, security, growing economy, young workforce, abundant natural resources and investment incentives, encouraging British and international investors to explore the opportunities available and emphasising the potential for strong returns on investment. Her message to the international business community was clear and confident: Uganda is open for business.

Particular attention was given to Uganda’s developing oil and gas sector, including opportunities surrounding commercial oil production and Uganda’s crude oil identity, “Pearl Sweet.” The sector has the potential to unlock wider opportunities across engineering, infrastructure, logistics, manufacturing, technology, skills development and professional services.

A central message from the Summit was that Africa must increasingly move beyond exporting raw materials towards processing, manufacturing and adding value within the continent. The UK, with its capital, technology, expertise and international business networks, can play an important role in creating partnerships that transform Africa’s resources and potential into industries, employment and sustainable economic growth.

The momentum continued with a special African Delegates Lunch next day at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord Rami Ranger and sponsored by the Commonwealth Prosperity Initiative (CPI) and Staardom Media Limited.

The House of Lords gathering brought together African delegates, dignitaries, diplomats, investors, business leaders and supporters. A special Awards and Recognition Ceremony honoured individuals and contributors whose efforts supported the UK–Africa Summit and helped advance stronger relationships, collaboration and opportunities between the United Kingdom and Africa.

Together, the Summit and the House of Lords gathering delivered a powerful message for the future: Africa brings resources, talent, growing markets and opportunity; Britain brings investment, expertise, technology and global connections; and India brings industrial capability, innovation, entrepreneurship and rapidly expanding global partnerships.

By strengthening collaboration between these three regions, the UK–India–Africa partnership can create a powerful triangle of investment, trade, technology and industrial development — turning connections into projects, resources into industries, and opportunities into jobs and shared prosperity.

“AFRICA HAS THE OPPORTUNITY. BRITAIN HAS THE CAPITAL AND EXPERTISE. INDIA BRINGS SCALE, INNOVATION AND INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH. TOGETHER, UK–INDIA–AFRICA BUILDS THE BRIDGE TO SHARED PROSPERITY.”

From dialogue to delivery. From resources to industries. From three regions to one stronger partnership; connecting the UK, India and Africa for lasting global prosperity.
