RE: ABROGATION OF ARTICLES 370 AND 35 A
I have no doubt you have read and heard a lot about the abrogation of article 370 and 35 A from the Constitution of India.
Allow me, as a resident in your constituency, a person of Indian origin and holding a British passport, to give you a very brief background on the subject.
I am venturing to do this because I am sure you have read and heard about it and as it is with journalists, they only tell you what they want to tell you. Put it bluntly, quite often they are biased. This is the main reason of writing to you.
Partition of India is a legacy left by Britain when she left India in August 1947.
States of undevided India were given one of three choices. They were (1) join the new country called Pakistan (2) join the Dominion of India (3) stay independent.
Jammu and Kashmir chose to stay independent.
In October 1947 soldiers of Pakistani army dressed as tribals invaded Jammu and Kashmir. Unable to face the onslaught of the mighty Pakistani army, Maharaja Hari Singh, the king of Jammu and Kashmir turned to India for military assistance. India refused, stating you are sovereign state, it is your problem, and you solve it.
At this point, desperate to save his population from the butchers of Pakistan, Maharaja Hari Sing decided to join the Dominion of India.
The Treaty of Accession was signed by Maharaja Hari Sing on behalf of Jammu Kashmir and for India by the then Governor General of India Lord Mountbatten of Burma in October 1947. With the signing of the Treaty of Accession, entire Jammu and Kashmir legally became Indian state.
So, in un-devided India entire Jammu and Kashmir was within India, as it is now after the signing of the Treaty of Accession in October 1947. Since the cease fire of 1947, Pakistan is illegally occupying Jammu and Kashmir.
When the constitution of India was approved in 1950, Articles 370 and 35 A were incorporated as temporary measure by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, a Muslim but disguised as a Hindu.
Articles 370 and 35 A applied in Jammu and Kashmir only.
Under now abrogated Articles 370 and 35 A
Indians from outside Jammu and Kashmir could not buy properties in Jammu and Kashmir. This was withholding progress of Jammu and Kashmir. An Indian marrying a girl from Kashmir was not allowed the rights and privileges that were available. This restriction did not apply to anybody from Pakistan marrying a Kashmiri girl. Also a Pakistani man could become Indian citizen immediately on marryinga Kashmiri girl. Kashmir had its own constitution and flag. Laws in Kashmir were different from those in the rest of India. Kashmir did not have to respect judgements from the Supreme Court of India. In a nutshell Kashmir was a country within India.
Articles 370 and 35 A were meant to be temporary. Yet they lasted 70 long years.
Abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A on Monday 5th August 2019 is rightly India’s internal matter. No country need bother about it.
Should you need any further information or clarification I will try to help.
Yours sincerely
Chuni Chavda

Well done Eshadoot publishing this very important letter which should be taken as template and Indians all over the UK sould write to their MPs. Apart from Bob Blackman there is no parliamentarian who has carried the cause for Kashmir and the plight of Kashmiri pandits who surffered atrocities under the terrorists. Likes of BBC shamelssely keep publishing stories and narratives which are anti Indian and anti Hindu and it is right time for all the peace loving Hindus and fellow Indians to protest en-masse of this kind of media thuggery which allows the perptrators a bigger voice than the victims
Very good comment, must be read by British Media, as it is so biased, so anti Indian. India is a one secular nation where every one should enjoy equal rights, equal privileges irrespective of caste, culture or religion. This is what UNO prescribes. All privileges, special favors, such as subsidized pilgrimage to holy city of Mecca or kumbh Mella etc should be stopped and these money should be used for the good of the people, on education, health and improving infrastructure. Let us hope this is the first step in the right direction, more will follow.
