London : An inspiring evening at The Nehru Centre, London, brought neuroscience and spirituality together through an insightful talk by Dr. Prashant Kakoday, held in collaboration with Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (UK).

Titled “Training the Brain for Calm: Insights from Neuroscience and Spirituality,” the session explored how greater awareness of our thoughts can help us manage stress, reduce attachment and develop lasting inner calm.

The most powerful takeaway was Dr. Kakoday’s simple yet profound “Guest Theory”; we are all guests on this planet.

When we stay in someone’s home as a guest, we enjoy what is available but understand that nothing permanently belongs to us. Life, he suggested, can be viewed in much the same way. We arrive with nothing, remain here for a limited time and eventually leave everything behind.

Yet much of our anxiety comes from becoming deeply attached to possessions, positions, expectations and the desire to control circumstances around us.

Seeing ourselves as guests does not mean abandoning ambition or responsibility. Instead, it encourages us to live fully, serve sincerely, appreciate what we have and remain less attached to what we cannot permanently keep.

The evening beautifully demonstrated how neuroscience and spirituality can complement one another, helping us understand both the workings of the mind and the deeper purpose behind how we choose to live.

“We are temporary guests on Earth. Our true legacy is not what we possess during our stay, but the kindness, service and positive impact we leave behind.”
