London Jeeman is a joyous occasion that unites individuals in relishing the taste of traditional cuisine, exchanging laughter, and reinforcing their relationships. This festivity reflects the opulent cultural heritage of Rajasthan, also known as the land of deserts – Marudhar. The largest Rajasthani event outside of India has gained popularity each year, with increasing attendance.

On June 25th, the London Jeeman event was celebrated at the Sattavis Pattidar Centre in Wembley. This event is highly anticipated by the Rajasthan Association UK for its impressive performances, folk music and dance, delicious Rajasthani cuisine, and traditional “manwar” hospitality for guests.

“The organisation gives importance to camaraderie and teamwork. The big team of over 100 volunteers have worked tirelessly for more than 2 months to bring the best and present the ultimate experience. The journey started by inviting people by going to them in person. This includes many honorary and dignitaries from different fields of work like Politics, Women entrepreneurs and Social and Community champions”, said Harendra Jodha, founder of RAUK.

The event was attended by distinguished personalities from India and the UK, including the Honourable Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, Dr. C. P. Joshi, who was honoured at the London Jeeman. Dr. Joshi praised RAUK for their selfless efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and their dedication to preserving the culture and heritage of Rajasthan in the UK. RAUK also requested Dr. Joshi to establish a Rajasthan Bhavan in the UK. Ms. Ruma Devi, a renowned social worker and fashion designer, graced the event. She is an awardee of the Nari-Shakti Puraskar and serves as an inspiration for women empowerment and entrepreneurship in India.

Many notable individuals, including British MP Virender Sharma, campaigner Chandrakant Sharma, Saint Shivjyotishanand, and Mr. Bhavani Singh Shekhawat from Akshaya Patra, Deepak ji Mehta from Manak & Jaltedeep attended the event.

The chief coordinator, Dilip Pungliya and Rishiraj Singh said, the London Jeeman event’s theme this year was ‘Marwad’, which represents the western region of Rajasthan, India. All the arrangements for the event were made in accordance with the theme.

At the venue, traditional Rajasthani dishes such as Churma, Dal, Gatta curry, Ker Sangri, Rabodi, Lahsun chutney, Bajra rotla, and Rasmalai were selected for the food menu. Rajiv Danga, the culinary expert on the team, mentioned that the United Nations General Assembly at its 75th session in March 2021 declared 2023 the International Year of Millets. “We are fortunate that Rajasthan has an abundance of them. Hence, we decided to innovate their regular menu and prepare more authentic dishes using the ‘Shri-Anna’ (Millets)”, he said.

The Rajasthan Association UK has proved its worth yet again by organising a highly successful London Jeeman 2023.

“It brings us great joy to witness the enthusiasm of people who rush to purchase the tickets as soon as they are released, plan their attire with friends and family, and participate with equal enthusiasm in the cultural performances. The happy faces of attendees motivate us to keep improving and do better each time”,  said,Shri Kuldeep Singh ji Shekhawat, the Patron of RAUK.
