Census 2021 will happen on 21st March

You may be aware that the Census 2021 will happen on 21^st March. The Census data is used by local and central Government to provide for the needs of the community including places of worship, community centres, schools, care homes etc. Therefore it is important that Hindus are properly recorded on the Census.

Given the shortage of time, an online meeting of all UK Mandirs has been scheduled for 11am on Saturday 20^th February to cover this topic in more detail. (The meeting will last for a maximum of 1hr 30 mins.)

We have a representative of the Office of National Statistics (ONS) together with NCHT senior executives available to explain the importance of census and the implications of the data. It will be an opportunity for us to ask questions and also plan how the Hindu Mandir Network (HMN) can help our Mandirs to spread the message to the congregation and the wider Hindu samaj.

Many Mandirs struggle to find funding for the development of the Mandirs and facilities for our communities. The Census 2021 is a great opportunity to represent ourselves correctly as it will have major implications for future developments of our Mandirs and the Hindu community.
