DO YOU LOVE LORD SHRI RAM

For last few months many of us are going through untold misery, loneliness, uncertainty and change to daily routine. Coronavirus has affected millions and will continue to do so not least when the Prime Minister is yet again going to make further lockdown announcement due to rise in the R rate in various parts of England today 12th October 2020.

It is undisputable how we need to reflect and take solace in spiritual pursuits and many of us would have no hesitation in meditating with Bhagwan Shri Ram’s chants and recite Hanuman Chalisa to get inner strengths. We would also appreciate if our national broadcaster airs programme touching our faith to give that extra confidence. However, BBC has done the opposite. As the following complaint shows, their anti-Hindu editorial vision continues and if more people including our religious organisations take note and protest, we will always be ridiculed in this manner.

Mr Nagra has created each episode with a question mark as if to do a hatchet job on devout Hindus not only in the UK but around the world. I have written countless emails with an anodyne reply completely ignoring the sentiments on a similar narrative from BBC. Even he should know how to tackle and discuss the great reverence which our Lord Shri Rama holds in our hearts. Yet again your anti-Hindu stance continues with a vengeance.

In this episode (1 of 5), one of the female contributors was questioning Rama’s love for Sita when following his return to Ayodhya Rama asked her to take a virtue test following her rescue from Ravana. It is like stating in a broadcast discussing the Prophet, whether or not it was appropriate as alleged that he had married a 9-year-old girl. It is futile to apply the perceived freedoms of modern times to an ancient legend.

BBC has taken full advantage of the passive silence of the Hindus as they know that we as a peace-loving and tolerant community here will never engage in an un-lawful reaction even if our Deities, Gods, and Goddesses were made fun of. I would like the editor to re-look at the contents of the programme and get the opinions of ordinary Hindus first before broadcasting. In recent BBC Asian Network on 07/08/20 ‘How will different faiths change post-pandemic’ completely ignored the Hindus. Martin Bashir, your religious editor too ignored the Hindus in his analysis of 07/06/20 ‘Coronavirus: Places of worship to reopen for private prayer’. I consider this to be a total religious bias. I will, on the basis of the record of may such narratives from BBC have no choice but to complain to the Information Commissioner. It is not helpful that the very religious community who are loyal taxpayers and give a lot to the economy of this country are loathed by certain BBC editors who use their own warped conviction to paint a distorted image of the Hindus and their Gods’

I urge readers to do your bit, you are the licence payers too and such practice should be ended. Love your inner Ram

  1. Few years ago , I visited many parts of south India. There are great Temples to see. But how the people behave in the temples require to be changed and discipline should be maintained. Journalists from other religions will have the opportunity to say any thing they like. Sita Mata ji suffered in her whole life .

  2. The complaint is about how BBC keeps having a dig at Hindus and this is how one if readers as previous comment reacts then we do not fave hope in the heKK of chance to get a fair representation. Observation of lack of discipline or behaviour of temple devotees by a journalist doesn’t give anyone Licence to say anything untoward Shri Ram
