Vaidyokti- a unique initiative for communal benefit

A unique initiative named Vaidyokti was recently delivered by Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence, which highlighted not only the linguistic diversity of India but also had key messages about COVID19 for communities in 20 different languages.

The Diction by Doctors includes advice and literary expressions by doctors with multiple speciality backgrounds who have mostly been tackling COVID-19 cases on the frontline. They have penned their thoughts on the pandemic in Assamese, Bhojpuri, Bengali, Odiya, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Saurashtra, Sindhi, Gujarati, Marathi, Rajasthani, Hindi, Kashmiri, Maithili, Konkani and Magahi, while advice on immunity building through ayurvedic practices was in Punjabi and a commoner’s view was in Bishnupriya Manipuri, besides an expression in German by Indian-origin doctor. Padma Shri Dr TS Chandrasekar, Chief Gastroenterologist and Founder of MedIndia Hospitals in India has contributed a poem in Saurashtra language and has also commended Sanskruti Centre for taking this step to spread awareness on corona crisis combining it with Indian linguistic heritage.

The doctors who have rendered their expressions included Dr. Mahedeo Bhide- IVF Specialist, Mr. Jaysheel Mehta-Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Shafalica Bhan Kotwal- Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Ravi Karwa, Miss Bernadette Pereira- Consultant Surgeon, Prof. Dr. Diwakar Sukul- Chartered Clinical Psychologist, Dr. N Vishwanath- Consultant Radiologist, Dr. Indira Vinjamuri- Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Ephia Yasmin- Consultant Gynaecologist, Dr. Amoolya Prasad- General Practitioner, Dr. Madhushree Mitra Ghosh, Sexual and Reproductive Health Consultant, Dr. Sahadev Swain- General Practitioner, Dr. Vivekananda Murthy Kadiyala- General Practitioner, Mr. Vikas Kumar- Speciality Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon, Dr. Oliver Arun Das, Dermatologist & Allergologist,  Dr. Jitendra Jethani- Paediatric Ophthalmologist,  Mr. Rajiva Ranjan Das- Colorectal Surgeon. Shri Lakshmindra Kumar Sinha a well known literary figure of Bishnupriya Manipuri and Mr. Amarjeet Singh Bhamra have also presented their renditions.

Help with script and lyrics have been acknowledged to Anupama Handoo (Sharda Script), Pt. Koushal Jha (Mithilakshar), Suraj (Khudabadi) and Basant Karwa (Rajasthani). The electronic format of the book has been made available to all to read and the audio renditions are available.
