Namaste!

Elections world over are same. Politicians from each party start promising all the copy-cat things which are in people’s wish list. So it is no surprise that NHS, Childcare, Minimum Wage for young, statistics and mud-slinging starts in earnest. Over the weekend the Tories accused Labour of announcing some 1.2 trillion pounds of spending if they are in power, even implementing a four day working week. They totalled up costs of all promises Labour have been making since the Election was declared. Labour smell rat that the weekend press reading public will think that Labour haven’t got a clue where the money will come from hence they countered by saying that their manifesto will be fully costed and transparent, unlike the Tories.

Traditionally we all know that Labour are a Party of spend. The Blair government fell and the incoming Conservative Treasury secretary found a note on his desk saying there was no money left in the kitty! Thus started the austerity measures with cuts in all sectors, notably the NHS and Police force too. Labour want to borrow more and future generations will keep on paying a chunk of the GDP in debt. Conservatives are seen as party of probity although accused of helping their rich friends in the city. Labour however, rather than being an effective opposition and being true Party of socialist virtue are all over the place, the Leader has not been able to make up his mind about Brexit and some of his  allegiance to unsavoury groups makes one wonder whether they depend heavily upon a bloc religious vote thereby giving something in return. Inner London Boroughs are clear proof of such decline in standards.

Election 2019 is in my opinion going to be decided by a Brexit vote. Today we hear of the Brexit Party withdrawing contest of seats where the Tories have some majority and only fight other constituencies with Labour marginal or Remain seats. In south Ilford Labour changed the candidacy of a well-known local Sikh council leader within last six hours of selection on serious misconduct charges. There are other areas where Momentum, Labour’s ultra-leftists (or Corbynistas) have campaigned long to unseat moderates almost in a communist style. Traditional Labour voters hopefully will be able to see through this and even with their Election war chest and Union funding the voters will want a decisive majority Government to stop the shambles of last parliament. As to the Liberals, they make all the usual noise but unless they are in coalition with another major Party their ideas howsoever attractive won’t materialise. The mainstream media are asking all sorts of questions to the politicians in this limited time making the Public even more confused. Question is where they were at the time of referendum to educate the masses regarding pro or cons of Remain / Leave. Now we have our say.
