Energy, engagement and innovation were the key campaign messages which resulted in Chigwell’s youngest elected Parish Councillor to win a fiercely contested by-election against the Liberal Democrats on 11 July 2019.

Pranav Bhanot, 30, was successfully elected and hopes to kickstart his tenure immediately through introducing grassroot community engagement projects, innovation through technology to deal with casework and to ensure Chigwell Row residents are provided with a robust voice on the Council.

Cllr Bhanot is also keen to deal with issues relating to social isolation among senior aged residents and empowering more young people to enter politics, in particular minority groups. He is the author of the book “Get me Elected. Strategies, Tips and Tactics for Election Success” and will be giving free copies to young residents interested in entering politics.

Cllr Bhanot says “I am delighted to have been elected as a councillor. Over the past few weeks I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting the majority of residents living in the ward and now look forward to rolling my sleeves up and working hard alongside my colleagues to make Chigwell and Essex even better. I hope to see more young people getting involved in local and national politics.”

(Pranav Bhanot is a litigation solicitor and has recently been elected as the Chigwell Row Parish Councillor. He is the author of “Get me Elected. Practical Strategies, Tips and Tactics for Election Success”.)

  1. Congratulations Pranav Bhanot to become a councillor Which means you are given more responsibilities to serve people of all origins in your ward. Please set your times when you will be available to them and it should be known to your residents.

  2. Well done Pranav winning and no onwards and upwards. We need to tackle the socilaists (more of whom tend to be supported by en-masse regious group). It was pity that you were not voted in for the Clayhall ward during Redbridge Council elections as some of our brethern still foolishly vote for Labour who are useless as far as the Hindu community is concerned in that area. You have proven that we are not meek, politically less represented (except where demographics can even let a wooden pole win in a Labour area) . We do not want north Redbridge and further to become like south Ilford or Newham or Barking. We want to retain the British culture and young upcoming Hindu professional like you can pave and mentor other aspirants. Corbyinstas around London boroughs are purging moderate politicians not to mention their perinial problem with the Jewish community. Labour are dreaming of diverse culture however they have just concentrated one religious group, including the current Mayor and the grivences of our community can be best addressed by someone like Pranav- young dynamic and influential -Good luck
