Sanskruti Centre’s unique Pitru Vandana salutes forefathers

Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence has organised a unique event at the Nehru Centre recently, paying artistic tributes to forefathers and father-figures who significantly  contributed to Indian history, heritage, performing arts, philosophy, cultural thought leadership.

Thoughtful music and dance presentations by about 20 performers from all over the U.K. rendered homage to legends such as Veda Vyasa, Varahamihira, Kavi Kalidasa,  Annamacharya, Bharata Muni, Siddhendra Yogi, Dasharatha, Janaka, Vrishabhanu, Arjuna, Chhatrapati Shivaji etc. through classical, folk and tribal dances. The programme began with a video presentation outlining the great contributions of epic fathers, eminent scholars, literary geniuses, saints, mathematicians, astrologers and subject matter experts to humanity.

The theme is conceived by Ragasudha Vinjamuri, Founder of Sanskruti Centre and is compered by Radhika Joshi and Pavani Kollu.

Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Odissi, Nrityachitra, Karagattam, Kolatam, Hejje Kunitha, Koya and Kummi dances, traditional songs and Mono-action (Soliloquy) honouring the cultural icons of India have immensely captivated the attendees. Soliloquy of Kavi Kalidasa was presented Sushil Rapatwar, song by Anjana Vasa and dances presented by Sanvika, Soundarya, Lakshmi Aveen, Dr Sreerekha, Manju Sunil, Debabrata Pal, Soujanya, Harsha, Akshata Bhat, Dr Sujatha Ram, Dr Ruthvika, Ananya, Charishma, Lakshmi Vinod, Ancy Joe, Maya Joseph, Ragasudha and Navya Kuthuria.

Audiences and guests came from various walks of life, and included Cllr. Karthik Bonkur, Cllr. Sharad Jha and Tarun Ghulati, former London mayoral candidate and several community leaders.
