Councillor Prerna Bhardwaj Elected as Mayor of Gerrards Cross

Councillor Prerna Bhardwaj was unanimously elected as the Mayor of Gerrards Cross for the civic year 2024-2025 at the Annual Statutory Meeting of the Gerrards Cross Town Council on Monday 20th May 2024. The meeting also confirmed Councillor Jaspal Chhokar as the Deputy Mayor of Gerrards Cross.

Born in Essex, Councillor Bhardwaj brings a wealth of experience to the Council, having worked in finance and media in the City of London and internationally. She resides in Gerrards Cross with her young family and is known for her passion for the local community and commitment to giving back.

Councillor Bhardwaj expressed her gratitude, stating, “it is an honour and a privilege to be elected Mayor of Gerrards Cross. It is my aim to use this role to help local charities and enhance our local environment. Being the first female Mayor, I intend to inspire more women and young individuals to be active in politics and I look forward to meeting and working with local residents, businesses and community groups.”

Councillor Bhardwaj’s election marks a historic moment for Gerrards Cross, as she becomes the first female Mayor of the town. Her extensive background, combined with her dedication to community service, positions her to make significant contributions to Gerrards Cross during her tenure.
