ARTICLE 370 joins the line of recent truth provoking films such as Kashmir Files and Kerala Storey to inform both the millennials and past generations in rational way, post-colonial history of BHARAT.
The start of the film clearly highlighted, via baritone voice of Ajay Devgan the need to remove Article 370 by showing events before and after.
The respective roles played by Yami Gautam -Zooni as IEB officer, Priya Mani -Rajeshwari Swaminathan as PMO officer, Arun Govil as PM Modi and Kiran Karmakar as Home Minister were excellent and gave justice to the writer, among others, and producer Aditya Dhar.
The story began from August 2019 when the article was removed with flashback of successful killing a Hizbool commander in 2016 followed by violence, stone throwing on the army jawans.
One learns in detail how ISI funded the miscreants and the way local politicians worked in self-interest during general unrest, lack of safety and eradication of civic society.
The film music score along with some dialogues in local Kashmiri add to the cinematic experience. Film it is however one could not help feeling proud that such serious subjects of national importance are tackled tactfully.
Elation of patriotism aided by watching performances of actors fighting the evil within and facts immersing the complex issues of the valley, politics, secret operations, and corruption make this fast-paced film informative and entertaining.
Yami Gautam’s and Priya Mani’s acting abilities are remarkable with amazing expressions, and everyone worked as a team.
There was a time that a Bollywood romcom would invariably be littered with songs and by having none in the film keeps the audience gripped.
So we exit the cinema with an understanding of the abrogation of Article 370 that removed the temporary autonomy enjoyed the State of J & K due to a historical reason but later highjacked by our neighbour at international level, never mind the atrocities committed on Hindus during the 1990’s.
So congratulations to the film crew, more so the director Aditya Jambhale who ensured to take the audience though a haunting political thriller.
