With his latest blockbuster Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan has cemented his superstar status further and has also scored some brownie points for political messaging along the way. Now, his film is being invoked by the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in two separate contexts.

First came the tweet of BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia on Wednesday. He wrote: “We must thank Shah Rukh Khan for exposing the corrupt, policy paralysis-ridden Congress rule from 2004 to 2014 through Jawan Movie.” The film reminds all viewers of the “tragic political past” during the UPA government, he claimed.

Jawan, a father-son story, touches upon issues such as government apathy, corruption, farmers suicide, children dying in a hospital due to lack of oxygen, faulty army weapons and dangerous factories near residential areas. In one of the key scenes, the actor also urges people to vote sensibly.

Bhatia listed the Commonwealth Games, 2G and coalgate scams to target the Congress on the issue of corruption, and said the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has maintained a “clean record” with no scams in the past nine-and-a-half years.

During the Congress-led UPA regime, the ‘Gandhi Parivar’ prioritised “VVIP choppers over bulletproof jackets for soldiers”, he charged.

On the issue of national security, Bhatia said the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) responded “decisively and swiftly” to the Pulwama attack, conducting the Balakot air strikes.

“It is so apt for the Gandhi Parivar,” he said.

“Thank you, Shah Rukh Khan. Under the leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, these issues are now a thing of the past,” Bhatia posted on X.

Alongside, the BJP kept up the heat on the INDIA alliance over the Sanatan Dharma row. Calling the Opposition bloc’s meeting in Delhi Wednesday “a get together of Anti-Hindu Coordination Committee”, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, saying he had authored Murder of Hinduism on the lines of the famous Murder, She Wrote.

“They will discuss how to finish off the Hindu religion,” Patra alleged.

On its official account, the party shared a graphic in which it called Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin; his son Udhayanidhi Stalin (whose comments triggered the row); Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi “destroyers of Sanatan Dharma”. Next to it, the party put a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi meditating in saffron robes, with the caption “protector of sanatan dharma”

  1. No doubt the message is good in Jawan the movie . But how much does SRK himself believe in BJP is a million dollar question. Now that he is endorsed by Gaurav Bhatia the Film will make in Crores. How will the common man benefit from that- I’m talking about the people below the poverty line.
Will SRK donate 60% of his earning from the movie for the downtrodden. Will he do the upliftment of the slums in and around mumbai.
Apology for the blunt question to Gaurav Bhatia

  2. SRK does need brownie points if he wants to remain popular and such storyline is a hit as those of us who actually grew up under awful Congress raj. To think that in primary schools our subsistence was peanuts from USA and we were from the third world! Post 2014 we can look eye to eye with anybody and the World respects India. Keep up the theme
