Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence hosted vibrant National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Divas) celebrations on Monday, 31 October at the Nehru Centre (ICCR London). Attendees were enchanted by the stellar dances and song presented on the occasion, which perfectly represented the cultural diversity of India.
The event began with a welcome by the Director of The Nehru Centre Amish Tripathi who befittingly spoke on the role of understanding and unity among people and cited historical instances that exemplify that the enemy is rather internal than external. Ekta Ki Awaaz, a dance presentation written by Jnanpith awardee Padma Bhushan late Prof. C Narayana Reddy was performed by Ananya Vilina, Anuja Tirumalasetty, Arya Arun, Harsha Rani, Lakshmi Pillai, Manju Sunil, Mona Jethwa Patel, Dr Pritha Dasmahapatra, Reema Virdee, Soundarya Gokulnath and Sreyashi Deb Roy.
Well-tuned Mile Sur Mera Tumhaara song was sung by Irawati Mulmule, a professional Hindustani vocalist. This was followed by captivating presentations of Odissi by Dr Pritha Dasmahapatra, Kathak by Priya Kushwaha and Bharatanatyam by Arya Arun. Deputy Director of The Nehru Centre Sanjay Sharma felicitated the artists in appreciation of their renditions. Dr Ragasudha Vinjamuri, dancer and Founder of Sanskruti Centre presented the vote of thanks.
