The colours of Rajasthan lit up London during the annual “Jeeman “program, organised by the Rajasthan Association UK(RAUK) on the 26th of June ’22. On this particular day, many Rajasthani families and people came together to celebrate the vibrant colours of the land of the Rajputana. On a specific day, participants wore colourful dresses like Pachrangee, Bandh ani Turbans, Jewellery and Ghagras. Even the children were not lacking as they were ornate with bright clothing.
The spokesperson of RAUK, Dilip Pungliya and Indu Barot informed that this year, the program outline was prepared many months in advance by the program coordinator and in-charge, Alok Ji Sharma and Ragini Ji Chaudhary. They worked with all the volunteers to logical divide them into manageable sections to collaborate and make it a success. All the volunteers helped immensely in bringing the event together.
All guests were welcomed by Rajeev Kheechar and Pradeep Bera warmly by applying tilak on their foreheads and sweetening one mouth with jaggery.
Under the guidance of Shipra and Aditya Singh venue and the photobooth were decorated. At the same time, Anchal Ji and Rakhi Ji arranged performances on the theme of the Shekhavati region of Rajasthan. Rajiv Ji Danga, Nandlaal Jat and Ravi Kumar took care of the guest by serving delicious traditional Rajasthan food with Methil Munvar (sweet offering).
Many volunteers helped with dedication from minor to significant tasks to make Jeeman successful and spread the love of Rajasthan in London. RAUK gives their heartfelt gratitude to them. The breakfast consisted of ginger tea, kachori and samosas with chutney, and lunch included Dal Bati Churma, Gatta, puri, and “lasoon Chatani”.
Harendra Singh Jodha, the patron of “Jeeman”, told us how RAUK is working to bring Rajasthani heritage and culture to the UK for all the Rajasthani who has been far away from their roots through such programs. He told us that our duty was to engage our children and teach them the sanskaras of our forefathers so that our culture and civilisation may remain infinitely progressive for ages.
Pushpa Chaudhary, one of the media in charge of RAUK, informed special Guest, Shri Anil Agarwal (the founder and chairman of Vedanta group), his wife Mrs Kiran Agarwal, Saint Abhay das Maharaj, and Saint Mohan blessed us with kind words with the commitment to help the community.
Expressing their joy, the guests in Jeeman, Dr Manish and Dr Archana, told us they had been a part of this Rajasthani program for the first time in twenty years living here, and from now on, they will be part of the program forever. Moreover, Barrister Jyoti Swami and Priyanka Ji said that when they learned about this program through their friends, they wouldn’t stop themselves from participating. They felt delighted to be part of their culture and mother language.
The program started with the young children’s various performances, and not only that, they have managed and anchored the whole of the program. Rang Rangilo group dance by Nishaba Jadeja, Vivek Sharma enchanted his flute, his daughter melodious singing “Teri Ladki Mein” overwhelmed audience. Exceptional dance performance on the Rajasthani tunes were performed by the volunteering team.
On the day, RAUK yearly, the magazine Jeeman was released by the chief guest, which was the hard work of Rishi raj Singh and Shrasti Bhati. Key features of the magazine include articles, poems etc. written by Rajasthani living in the UK & other parts of the world.
The chief minister, the Governor of Rajasthan, and many ministers sent their congratulations and best wishes.
People from faraway places came to become a part of this program to meet their dear ones. A group of 25 ex-students of MBM engineering college jodhpur was also attended.
The programmed ended with “Maha Ghoomar” dance, as all participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
