Shri Padmesh ji Gupta gave a very brief history of The Hindi Speech competition ie it was started in 1990 to develop interest in learning Hindi in the UK by the Indian / Hindu children.
The children from Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) Ilford have been participating successfully for a number of years now.
We had 19 children, who were born in the the U.K. or came to the UK at a very early age. These children registered to participate this year. One of the Ilford Children was declared the winner in the 9 to 17 year group ie she was awarded the first Prize. The rest of the Ilford Children also did very well and will receive the participation certificates signed by the Head of Hindi Department at the Indian High Commission.
Heartiest Congratulations and well done to all the children, teachers and parents.
The Hindi Samiti President Smt Surekha ji, vice-President Smt Seema ji Vedi said that the Competition in itself, is not the end point but the start of a life long interest in Hindi and connecting the children to Bharat, while they live in the UK.
A lot of the actual organisation of the Speech Competition this year was done by the previous competitors and winners.
Guests were invited from all over the UK and some guests also attended from Bharat on-line. “
