I Was just thinking that if I have to go back to India , I’m settled abroad for 3 decades approximately.
We want to go back to roots and so I send a few friends to go and get my flat ready which is located in Mumbai suburbs which has Gujarati community.
The feed back which I got was very shocking – my apartment was illegally occupied by unknown people they not only changed the water and electric meter to their name but also refused to give their identity as I was not present. NRI Indians property are not safe, we have to go to the court litigation and pay the lawyers fees and the hearing comes after years and by the time the court decisions come after 15/20 years who Ever knows we will be alive or NO.
Now coming to my other property in Gujrat the same situation: illegal occupancy and litigation etc.
The senior citizens are not safe in their own property, there is a constant fear of Burglary , murder etc. Why can the local authorities not look into it?
The icing on the cake was my bank cheque book has a stamp the bank is not responsible for any funds in my account exceeding INR 1 lac and some limitations in the locker section also.
If the NRI money is not safe , property is not safe, human life is not safe then how does one come back to roots??
Besides the NRI’s are sending huge amount of funds to India and what does the NRI community get in return – NOTHING. We are not even given social security nor are we allowed to gain on the pension plan fronts. The banks use the funds of the NRI and give a small amount of interest and give loans at 12-14% using the NRI funds.
The NRI are not even getting a decent medical insurance after having FD’s in banks.
Some CA mentioned that we should ne thankful that we are exempted from the tax structure. But the interest which the banks enjoy on our funds without sharing with the NRI is not ever given a thought?
The resident Indians who pay tax in lakhs and crores of rupees also don’t get any social security and as pension they get it Rs1000/- per month? That’s one of the main reason why the tax payers of the country don’t want to be transparent.
The system should give benefits to both the NRI and Tax paying Residents and the Pension should be higher and also the NRI should be given equal or higher benefits.
The social security , safety should be both same for the citizens of India.
