Nottingham Hindu Youth Group marked the emphatic win by the BJP and Modiji in the Indian elections by holding a celebratory event at The Hindu Mandir on 15 June 2019. The event was attended by prominent members of the Indian Community, young and old alike.
It was a lively event which covered facets of India, its peoples and especially its very famous and well loved Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The evening started with Ganesh Vandana dance performance by kathak teacher of Taal Academy Bhumika Nehra, a talk by the resident priest Pandit Acharya Shiv Naresh and a poem about politics and elections in India by Mrs Dogra.
The event’s organiser Hari Om Gupta gave a presentation on the many interesting facts about the Indian election, which involved the 900 million potential voters, and a 66% turnout. He highlighted how the mahagathbandan failed miserably , against the BJP and its powerful leader Modiji. The BJP won 303 seats on its own, which is a huge mandate for its popular leader.
Sudeer Gupta gave an account of the RSS and the charitable works that the organisation does in India. Darshan Sohalji gave an account of how Modiji has bought Yoga to the international platform via the United Nations Yoga day.
Dr Sudha Vashisht’s overview of the Mandirs Modiji has visited and how he has taken international dignitaries to the Hindu tirathsthan such as to the Ganga and Ganga Aarti was remarkable. She also recounted how he has transformed his constituency Varanasi, which is an ancient holy tirathsthan for Hindus. The Mandir is a hub for social and religious activity and Modiji’s visits to the Mandirs are extensively covered by the media of the world, thereby increasing their knowledge of the Mandirs.
Mr Dharmavir Dhandaji sang a wonderful spiritual and patriotic song. Anand Parekh presented a quiz on India and Modiji which tested one’s general knowledge.
After a vote of thanks, there was joyful garba and dancing to Hindi patriotic songs.
