Highlighting the essence of the ancient wisdom of Bhagawad Gita and its relevance to contemporary world, Gita Jayanti was richly celebrated at the House of Commons through thought-provoking speeches and delightful dancing and singing.
The event was organised by Sanskruti Centre for Cultural Excellence, hosted by Bob Blackman MP, Chair, opened by Virendra Sharma MP, Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for British Hindus and supported by Baroness Sandip Verma.
The event also brought together a multitude of Hindu and Community organisations from different parts of England and has successfully disseminated thoughtful inputs by a galaxy of presenters across various ages and stages.
Implementation of the values of Bhagawad Gita in different contexts and fields such as Charity, Business and Corporate management, Community Service, Environment, Politics, Law, Spiritual framework, Human Relations and Art was highlighted by eminent speakers including Bhawani Singh Shekhawat (Akshaya Patra Foundation), life coach Dr Vishwanath Kokkonda, solicitor Pranav Bhanot (Hindu Lawyers Association), founder of ISKCON Leicester Pradyumna Das (College of Vedic Studies), Rupal Bharadia (Shyam), environmentalist Dr Vinitaa Apte (Terre Policy Centre), Dr Madhukar Ambekar (OFBJP), Ravi Bhanot (VHPUK). 5 year-old Nitalaksh Talluru recited and music teacher Pavithra Vishwanathan sang selected verses from Geeta, Adhokshaja Karanam, Aashritha Vangapelli, Keertana Kantipudi, Shriyana Nallani, Tvisha Raorane, Shreya Manas of Sanskruti Centre have presented invocation on Lord Krishna, Ragasudha Vinjamuri and Manju Sunil have presented beautiful classical dance on the quintessence of Bhagawad Geeta covering all eighteen chapters.
Smita Singh of Chelmsford Hindu Society, SP Upadhya of Nepalese Hindu Forum UK spoke on their work, while a brief film was shown on JETUK activities. Members of Oxford Ganesh Utsav Samiti, UTHO, HSS, Ilford Mandir, Metropolitan Hindu Association, Sur Bharti Women’s Collective and other community organisations were present at this well conceived and well appreciated event.
Priti Patel MP, former Diaspora Champion, and Indian Minister for Culture and Environment Dr Mahesh Sharma have sent best wishes for the program.
