Vande Matram at Wembley, Brent Indian Association

Braving the bitterly cold weather (-2 C ) with a wind chill of -5 C, nearly a crowd of over 200 people gathered at the Brent Indian Association to witness the Flag Hoisting ceremony on 26th January to mark the 68th Republic Day of India.

“Where ever we live in the world, India will always live in our hearts” said Anita Ruparelia, President of the Brent Indian Association (BIA).

Amid a thunderous applause the Indian Flag was hoisted by the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Parvez Ahmed in presence of Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Rekha Shah & Bob Blackman MP. For Harrow East. Many councillors from Brent Council attended the event.

Indian National anthem was sung by all followed by the British national anthem.

Speakers praised India and the work of Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. Bob Blackman said that he visited India 5 times in 2016 and that he was going there again in May this year. He said that he loves Bharat.
