Guru Gobind Singh-Noble qualities & sterling contribution to humanity



On the momentous occasion of the 350th Prakash Utsav or birth anniversary of the revered Guru Gobind Singh ji, High Commissioner Shri Y.K. Sinha, Deputy High Commissioner Shri Dinesh K. Patnaik and other senior officers of the High Commission joined devotees in prayers at the historic Shepherds Bush Gurudwara Sahib (also known as Central Gurudwara Sahib London), the oldest Gurudwara in not only the UK, but all of Europe. High Commissioner was presented with a ‘Siropa’ by the Gurudwara Committee on the occasion.


High Commissioner while paying homage to Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, referred to his noble qualities and his sterling contribution to humanity. High Commissioner recalled how his parents, from his early childhood, instilled in him great reverence for the teachings of the Guru. He also mentioned that he took great pride in the fact that he hailed from Patna, the city that was the birth place of the 10th Sikh Guru. Government of India, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, had welcomed hundreds of Sikhs hailing from the UK along with devotees from all across India and from all corners of the world, as they converge on Takht Sri Harimandir ji Patna Sahib on this historic day. He said that Guru Gobind Singh ji’s teachings of truth, justice, courage, sacrifice, devotion and universal welfare will continue to guide the lives of devotees in all times to come.
